DESCRIPTION OF THE PROJECT:

Erasmus+ is the European Union programme for education, training, youth and sport. It aims to modernise education, training and youth work across Europe. It is open to education, training, youth and sport organisations across all sectors of lifelong learning, including school education, further and higher education, adult education and the youth sector.

Erasmus+ has many different Key Actions, each one with a specific target. The Key Action 229, to which the project ”Values Education in Action” belongs, is about School mobility partnerships that aim to develop and reinforce networks, to increase their capacity to operate at transnational level, to share and confront ideas, practices and methods, to improve attainment in basic skills, reinforcing quality in education and care, strengthening the profile of the teaching professions and to support the schools to tackle early school leaving and disadvantage.

The project, “Values Education in Action” takes place in the period 2018/2020 and involves five schools from five countries:

•             Ozel Yukselen Fen Lisesi, Ankara, TURKEY (Coordinator)

•             5o Gymnasio, Karditsas, GREECE (Partner)

•             Istituto Comprensivo Don Milani, Carbonia, ITALY (Partner)

•             Mazeikiai Senamiestis Low Secondary School, Mazeikiai, LITHUANIA (Partner)

•             Gymnasium Skövde Västerhöjd, Skövde, SWEDEN (Partner)

 

Values education is a set of learning experiences that support young people’s development as socially responsible citizens who contribute meaning fully to the community, through the learning and application of values, knowledge and skills.

Values education starts from families and continues at school with teachers and educators. As a result, the coherence of the actions of families, teachers and educational programmes are crucial for effective values education.

This project is aimed at sharing, changing and disseminating the best applications about 5 basic humanitarian and ethical values (  1. Righteousness and honesty ; 2. Positive and ethical behaviours; 3. Inner peace; 4. Respect and love and 5. World peace)  and sub-values with the preparation of a wide range of activities on these values. Therefore, not only academic achievement but also the acquisition of Fundamental values in the context of a school environment are highlighted , which can ultimately improve students' emotional and mental abilities that they will need throughout their life.

The aim of this project is to develop, elaborate and popularize the best applications by organizing

simultaneous activities related to a "Values and Ethics Education" at partner schools; hence, by

bringing moral education to the fore we do not only aim at academic success in schools but also at

stimulating the students’ basic emotional senses.
